Institutional Membership

For universities, colleges, departments and research institutions supporting undergraduate and postgraduate research. Includes three individual memberships assigned at the institution's discretion, community access and conference discounts.

This membership category is intended for college and university programmes and departments, and research institutions that have a particular focus on education research, with developing, supporting and sustaining their undergraduate and postgraduate research efforts. The association can be a catalyst for campus transformation, offering opportunities for faculty professional development in research and curriculum, and tools for administrators.

Institutional membership exemplifies administrative commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate research, a message that is much appreciated by faculty, current students and prospective students. In addition, institutional members join with many other prestigious academic institutions in support of undergraduate and postgraduate research as an important component of higher education. IARSA's wide contact base allows for the organisation's dynamic national and international representation of those involved with undergraduate and postgraduate research in all disciplines. Benefits are comprehensive and designed to exceed those of the individual membership level.

Institutional members name delegates who provide the governance and carry out the work of the institution's membership.

  • The opportunity to evaluate the school's progress toward research integration with the association's lead scholars around the globe

  • Information on funding opportunities, jobs and other resources, in the bimonthly IARSA E-News
  • Eligibility to receive mentoring, or resubmission proposal reviews, from colleagues in a particular discipline
  • The opportunity to develop and be recognised for leadership in the academic community, by serving on the association's committees and General Council, or in departmental consulting, speaking and other leadership activities

How to apply

  1. On registering, one member is registered as the contact person, with the right to represent the institution at any conference of the association, including the annual conference.
  2. The contact person receives a number of redemption codes, depending on the registration, for free membership of additional members. Each of those members has the same right to represent the institution.
  3. Institutional membership has to be renewed manually every year.

Terms & fees

  • An Enhanced Institutional Membership level is also offered, carrying unlimited individual memberships.
  • Membership dues: every member institution pays an annual membership fee, which allows the Council to pool funds in support of research programming and publications. Dues are set by the institution's total research funding; see the fees page.
  • Cooperative agreements: member institutions are occasionally invited to join cooperative agreements on student exchange, faculty collaboration and the sharing of teaching tools, strengthening ties between member institutions.
  • Promoting the association's programming: member institutions are required to promote IARSA-sponsored opportunities and publications to their members and faculty.
